Supportive, Permanent HomesWe provide homes for 22 adults with intellectual disabilities and 18 assistants who come to help. For our staff, this is more than a job. In each of our five homes, those with and without intellectual disabilities live together. We don't just "care for" people; rather, we share life, chores, meals, outings, challenges and celebrations. Together. This is what makes L'Arche unique. We value the life-changing relationships that unfold within and an environment that is inclusive, secure and with dignity for all.
Those who live in our homes must be referred through the Ministry of Community & Social Services. |
A Vibrant Community Day ProgramOur Creative Hands Art Studio has long been a busy place! Every Mon-Fri, individuals with intellectual disabilities gather as a community to explore the creativity that lies within each of us. Here you will find members making candles, painting, tackling puzzles, creating pottery, music and gathering for meals. Some choose to sit back and watch, comforted and thankful for the company of new and old friends. Through art we provide an opportunity for members to use their talents and interests to express themselves, and to connect and share.
Ontario Trillium FoundationL'Arche Hamilton is grateful to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for a two-year grant commencing in 2023 through the Resilient Communities Fund to support expansion of our day program, enabling us to resume and adapt provision of critical day program services for adults with intellectual disabilities.
