Welcome to the L'Arche Hamilton Inclusion Coffee House
The Inclusion CoffeeHouse opened its doors Dec 2021. Located in the Bernie Morelli Recreation Centre, just south of Tim Horton's Field (go TiCats!), this volunteer-led community outreach initiative reaches people of all backgrounds, ages, cultures, faiths and abilities. We are grateful to the City of Hamilton for this partnership, and to The Hamilton Community Foundation and the Edith H. Turner Fund for a grant to launch our CoffeeHouse. We are also thrilled and grateful to welcome our newest sponsor, CN.
Our goal is to create a safe community space where people people of all abilities gather together for music, fellowship and yummy treats. In a time when people are longing to belong, we create space to share our gifts, deepen our connection and celebrate our humanity and need for one another. The Inclusion CoffeeHouse was founded to allow us to express our gifts of cooking, hospitality and friendship.
We believe that The Inclusion CoffeeHouse belongs to all the adults with intellectual disabilities who make up our charity, and the neighbourhood in which we operate. Any profits from this project will go to those adults with intellectual disabilities supported by L'Arche Hamilton.
No matter who you are, you are welcome here. You belong. We celebrate you and the gifts you share with others.
At present, the CoffeeHouse is open every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10am to 1pm. You can support us by simply dropping in to buy a coffee or sharing about our project with your friends and coworkers. If you wish to donate directly to the Inclusion CoffeeHouse, click here and type "Coffee" in the comment box. Or if you want to volunteer with us (we love our volunteers), send us an inquiry and we will be in touch just as soon as we can.
“Coffee and friendship - it goes together because people can come and sit down and get to know each other.
Inclusion means community and it means like a family and we’re together.”
